Delicious Homemade Salsa and Guacamole Recipe

This homemade salsa and guacamole recipe combination is the perfect pairing with any kind of wine as it complements the taste of the wine. I am very certain your guest will like this combination. They are great for every snack, and they also make a great appetizer for a barbecue or laid-back party.

The best part is that they require zero cooking, which is great when you live in a place with no AC (like me!) Super easy to make and tastes great and to me, homemade salsa and guacamole are always better than store-bought.

Prep: 20 Mins|Total Time: 20 Mins|No cook|Serve: 10

Ingredients

For Salsa.

  • 5 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/3 cup red onion, diced
  • 1 jalapeño, minced for a lot of extra heat, do not gut the jalapeño; throw the seeds into the mix.
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 lime, zested and juiced
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped cilantro (You can use flat-leaf parsley if you don’t like cilantro).

For Guacamole.

  • 4 large avocados, peeled and pitted
  • 1 lime, zested and juiced
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt, add little extra to taste if required
  • 1/3 cup of the homemade salsa, plus extra juice from the salsa because of the freshly chopped tomatoes, Salsa can get liquid so you reduce the water by adding some to the guacamole and mix.

How To Make Homemade Salsa and Guacamole

To make the Salsa.

  • You first combine all the ingredients together in a large bowl and toss until combined.
  • Allow to stand for about 15 minutes before serving, or cover and put in the fridge until serving time. (If you cover it with plastic wrap, it will make your fridge smell somehow garlicky. Just a heads up)

To Make Guacamole.

  • You first peel avocados and place all of them into a large bowl. Crush them a few times with a form to break them down. Then add the lime juice, kosher salt, and 1/3 cup homemade salsa, plus some extra juice from the salsa you made.
  • Mix thoroughly until the guacamole reaches your ideal smoothness (You can leave it chunky or silky it all depends on what you like)
  • Cover and put in the fridge if you are not serving immediately, leave it there until serving time.
  • I love eating mine with tortilla chips, my fave kind.
